Furniture Restoration Part 2 – repair
In the second part of our furniture repair on the child’s rocking chair, you’ll see it striped of the fabric and cushion layers and the repair to the leg joint. As you can see, when the fabric is removed, the poles and crossbeams are very ‘hole-y’. Therefore, we need to fill these with epoxy resin before we can re-pin the new fabric and hessian straps. The fix on the leg went very well, and once it’s been stained and blended with wax it should be very discreet. A sliver of the original leg was used to cover the screw-head. There is a fair bit of woodworm, so we’ll take care of that too.
